*empties a bucket of rotting sardines over Stercus's head*
We don't fight, here, we discuss serious topics in a litterate way. Now go make the tea.

Um... I started running again. Again.

Thanks :) I start work as a trainee auditor in PricewaterhouseCoopers next September.

It's going to be a shock to the system working 9-5.30 everyday, as opposed to eight hours of lectures a week!!
  6. Katcal I Aten't French !

Why ? I said I wasn't cross about that little incident...

Good luck with the job, Jackal !
  7. Stercus Stercus New Member

Do you get the grey cloak with just smoke inside and no legs?

    *laughs out loud*
    Don't de-motivate me!

Ooooh, look, I found the quote-button....
  9. Katcal I Aten't French !

    You're lucky this ship doesn't have a self-destruct button lieutenant !

(note to self : don't type and watch Star Trek)
  10. spiky Bar Wench

Of course he does, its called a grey suit and black brief case, its the uniform to strike fear into average taxevasion Joes everywhere. Poor Jackal so much money so little respect.

Congrats and I hope you enjoy your new life as an evil accountant :)

BTW Kat putting a capital F on frenchie would endow the word with more authority and respect than it deserves. It is so beneath me that it only gets the lower case.

*catapults belacan into Kats bed to stink the place up so she can't sleep and is now waking up wondering what died in her bedroom*
  11. Katcal I Aten't French !

Yeah, as if I slept well before that. *cries*

I had to go to the court house for jury duty today. All month I've been calling in and they tell me I don't have to come except the last day at 8:15am. This is my summer vacation, I don't get up that early. I didn't get picked though. I didn't even get interviewed. I sat at the court house for two hours and then I got to go home. The trial was that some old lady stole a pack of cigarettes. Now I have a form to fill out for next year because I am one of 4,000 potential jurors that could get called in again. Jury duty is not fun, although the court house was air conditioned and it was 90°F today.
  13. Katcal I Aten't French !

We're off for the weekend, to a friend's wedding. It's going to be medieval. Huzzah !
  14. Katcal I Aten't French !

Oh, well, not such good news today... Reg's grandfather was taken into hospital a couple of days ago, and yesterday he was transferred to Toulouse, to a better clinique. We went to see him yesterday, and he looked so old and small in his big clean room and white gown, strange... Hospitals are bad enough if you're visiting a new baby and mother, they're damn depressing when you're visiting someone old, who's lonely as hell without his wife, and lost, and doesn't understand what's going on.
The doctors don't quite know what's wrong, he has a damaged vertebra, which is causing pain basically everywhere below the belt, but the doctor we saw also added "oh, and he's got a couple of nasty-looking spots on his lung x-ray, ex-chain smoker, all that, so we'll have to biopsy and see, but hey, you know, he's 83, so we'll bear that in mind..." Oh, ok, so at 83 you're not worth the effort, eh ? that's nice to know...
  15. missy New Member

Hun, i hope he gets a bit better, i know it's not much use but you (and yours) are in my thoughts.

I'm not doing to well either. I had a car accident yesterday and have broken the car! I hurt my neck and my tummy. My friend was with me, she's ok today but looked awful yesterday. I felt so guilty. Ive never hurt anyone and wouldn't to save my life to be honest.

A bloody car, a 4 x 4 with black and yellow squares on it decided to reverse part way round the island. 3 cars had to stop sharply and i ran into the back of the end one, I really had no way of stopping as it was a blind bend. I tried to swerve so my side of the car took the brunt of it, but now i have to cut our holiday in July short and miss a friends wedding cos i have to pay for the car to be sorted.

Sometimes i even upset myself. I've let Dave down again. It always seems to be him that suffers for my stupidity
  16. Katcal I Aten't French !

Oh damn. Don't feel too bad about it hun, sometimes, car accidents can't be helped, you said it yourself, you did what you could to limit the damage. Don't talk about letting Dave down and being stupid, that's the old Wendy talking, and we don't want to see her, remember, we like the new Wendy... *big comforting hug* Take care, and get Dave to give you an extra big hug where it doesn't hurt, just for me.
  17. Victimov8 New Member

I agree with Kat - sadly, finding somewhere that doesn't hurt is not a simple task...

Excrement occurs - there is not a great deal that we mortals can do about it...

It is a lousy junction - and whoever was reversing deserves, seriously, to lose their license

Cheer up - I got you
  18. Katcal I Aten't French !

Yay for Dave, I say ! *gives Dave a big hug too*
  19. missy New Member

I've had some sleep now. I still feel bad but what can i do. I've done damage limitation on the bills and have cut down the holiday so i miss out and not Dave. I have to admit, knowing i'm still gonna see his face light up when he enters those book stores did cheer me up. Its not so bad.

I do feel guilty and no amount of nice words is going to change that, thank you though. But i suppose you are right, it was just an accident and i did try my best.

Oh and i'm out of fags so i'm gonna have to rip someones head off soon.
  20. Katcal I Aten't French !

    **waves defensive anti-head-ripper pillow**

Of course you feel guilty babe, that's just human, and it's perfectly normal, we'd all be kicking ourselves in your place right now. What I don't like hearing is the "I'm stupid and I'm letting him down" stuff, because that's a place that's hard to leave, after all you've been through, but you need to. Try to get it into your head that Dave is just as stupid as you, and he's just Dave, and no-one else.
  21. missy New Member

Oh LOL if only you knew!

We had to exchange details with the people and to do this Dave moved the car, to cut a long story short, he reversed into a concrete pillar!
  22. Katcal I Aten't French !

    Lolsome !!

    Oh deaaar... Daaaave !
  23. Faerie New Member

I just went up on an 8 hour drive to visit Michigan Tech. It rained almost the entire way up there and it was so foggy crossing the Mackinaw Bridge that you couldn't see Mackinac Island. The tour was nice up at Tech and I like the campus. We stayed at a hotel in St. Ignace on the way home and there was a fight in the bar downstairs and the cops were called. I bought a kite in Mackinaw City. I wanted a stunt kite with two strings but those were a bit expensive plus I would probably crash and break it.
  24. spiky Bar Wench

I'm just wondering how this story goes from bar fights and police to kites in one very smooth segue. Well done Faerie for one of the smoothest transitions ever written...

...although I am left wondering what was the fight about and who won?
  25. Faerie New Member

That was the condensed 1 paragraph version of my 3 day trip. I've been to the UP so many times the trip is familiar to me now and there isn't that much more to tell. I'm not sure what the fight was about two guys were just yelling "I never said that about you" back and forth. We left the bar before any punches were thrown. The bartender tried to break it up and she had to call the cops even though she didn't want to because one of the guys was her best friend's husband. I know all this because my mom likes to talk with everyone she sees, my dad and I know this and we usually end up waiting for an hour when we send her somewhere to do something.

I've had a couple of busy months (uni and Australia, among other things), but I'm pretty much back.

I've dug myself into linguistics and decided I want to study the syntax of child first and second language acquisition. I landed a position assisting one of my uni lecturers with research in this area.

    Also, I turned vegan.

    So yeah.
  27. Katcal I Aten't French !

I bet those pear pancakes did it. Glad to see you back, piglet !
  28. Buzzfloyd Spelling Bee

Wendy, don't be a wally - if some bloke causes an accident, that's not even close to being your fault. You did everything you could to minimise the damage and you got out alive and relatively unscathed - which last I'm sure is far more important to Dave than if it costs a bit of money to fix someone else's mistake. I hope the tummy and neck get better soon. ::hugs::

Kat, I'm sorry about Reg's grandad. Being alone in hospital sucks for anyone, but particularly someone vulnerable. I hope the hospital treat him well and that things work out OK. At least he has loving family.

Faerie, sounds like an eventful weekend! So you think you made the right decision, then?

Coppe, good to see you back! Good luck with the veganism - and remember, if you're ever exhausted and hungry, baked beans on toast is a nutritious, easy-to-make snack that does not contain animals.
  29. Katcal I Aten't French !

You mean beans aren't animals ????
  30. Cynical_Youth New Member

    Thanks!

    Go vegan pancakes!

You know, it's strange, I've missed being called piglet.
  31. Katcal I Aten't French !

I've missed having someone to call piglet !

Less good news, however, what I expected has been confirmed by the doctors: it is lung cancer, quite advanced, and it has spread and is what caused damage to his vertebrae. Without his pain in the back, they would never have known. He will have to go through radiotherapy and stay in hospital for a long time. This is going to be really tough, he's never been able to stand being away from his wife, Reg's grandmother, for more than a day, it's been almost a week and he's already going nuts in his clinically white room. He's not allowed to get up or move much, and for someone who was so active a few days ago, and so attached to his home and garden, it's infuriating...

They won't tell him or his children until Wednesday, when they will all be here... It's hard on Reg, he's more or less the only grandchild that actually cared about them both and visited regularly, although I have been expecting it since mid-week, he is just getting to grips with it...
  32. Buzzfloyd Spelling Bee

Really sorry to hear the bad news, Kat. I'll be thinking of you and Reg and the family.

Well I'm sorry to hear about the bad news, I'm visiting my sister's family. We are celebrating David's Highschool graduation tomorrow. Yesterday I got to go to the parent preview for the Sauk Rapids-Rice Marching Storm. My niece is a flag girl, they have quite a show. David is standing in for his dad today playing drums for the St Cloud Munincipal Band at the Brigg's Lake gig. Whatever that is. His dad is still on a fishing trip, my sister thought he needed to decompress so she sent him on a church sponsored fishing trip. well I hope the weekend is fun for everyone and that all the troubles work themselves out.
  34. Buzzfloyd Spelling Bee

    Enjoy yourself, Tamyra!
  35. Katcal I Aten't French !

We went to the "Celtic Night" at a nearby town on Saturday, and I ended up chatting to a nice guy called Garner (you can already tell he's no relation, can't you !), David Garner, that is, and he plays the most amazing fiddle, especially as he's "only" 22, his myspace page is here :www.myspace.com/davidgarnerfiddle

I'm sorry to hear of Reg's Grandad hun. My stepdad had lung cancer. They gave him 6 months with radiotherapy and he went on to live life to the full for 2 years.
I believe if they have something to fight for then they will with all their heart. Don't give up hope hun. ::hugs Reg:: ::hugs Kat::

On a lighter note... I have a fractured wrist from the accident. Its only a hair line one but still painful, Daves had a poorly wrist for a while, so as you can guess, with both our support bandages on, we could entre a Michael Jackson contest! we look pathetic with our wrists all done up while we are out together!
  37. Katcal I Aten't French !

Thanks babe, and lol for the Wrist Brothers act
  38. Buzzfloyd Spelling Bee

    It's the Wristband Brigade!
  39. fairyliquid New Member

'wristband brigade' I love it! Hope it gets better quickly but I'm sure you both look cute with your matching bandages.

Hope things work out Kat and it sounds like a good trouble-sorting-out weekend Tamyra!

I have 3 1/2 days till summer holidays and I'm moving to Kuala Lumpur in a week...which is interesting. I'll be heading to boarding school come August which is equally as interesting.

I'm also going to Indonesia for a short holiday which is more interesting, and then Soctland which is less so.
  40. Sunna New Member

Of all the places you mentioned I'd like the most to be in Scotland
  41. fairyliquid New Member

BBC NEWS | UK | Scotland | Scotland is 'worst small country'

    See link....need I say more?

    Plus it rains...a lot

(actually I quite like Scotland and plan on moving there...I just don't like spending summers as they largely involve visiting family and eating lots of stogy, potato filled meals. Plus...how can a beach weekend on an island in Indoneisa not appeal more?)
  42. Sunna New Member

I don't know,I just love Scotland and plan also on moving there.
  43. Dane New Member

I quite liked scotland, i went there the other day with my (ex)step-dad. We were dropping some of his stuff off at his aunties house in glasgo. It was pretty close to the city centre, she'd been in it all her life. I couldn't believe how big it was! I've only been to Scotland twice but really enjoyed both visits.

I'm back in leicester at the moment, my mum and now ex-step-dad split up the other week. me and my mum moved about ten minuets down the road, its a nice house but nowhere near as big as the last. Not that thats a bad thing, its closer to college at least. Still it would have been nice to have a little stability for the last two years I'm going to be living with my mum. Unfortunatly the move means we wont be able to afford an internet connection for a wile so i probably wont be on much for a wile... again.

My exams went well, i actually revised for them this time! (unsurprisingly) it helped a lot, i think i'll do it again sometime :D, although revising asto-physics for five hours streight is not fun... well maybe a little but thats only because i'm a geek.

Finally good luck to all those that need it and big hugs to everyone. Its been a wile since i've been on here :D
  44. Buzzfloyd Spelling Bee

I'd like to go to Scotland for a holiday, but I wouldn't be able to live there because I don't speak the language.
  45. Katcal I Aten't French !

Well, that and having to put up with Doors.

I quite liked my 1.5 days in Edinburgh, even if it was full of hippies and politicians for the G8 summit making the place a complete mayhem... The other downside was the discovery that the Scots make and apparently eat deep fried hamburgers. this is just wrong. On so many levels.

Well I'm sorry to hear about everyone's woes. I've been a bit of a hermit lately as i needed to get the student exams marked. This is now done, I just need to input them into a computer and then I'm home free with nothing but crap loads of research and writing to be done until I go to Italy in July... Oh well. I'll get a holiday at some point in time.
  48. plaid New Member

    i sold my car yesterday.

it's pretty weird to be without it.

nice not to have to pay insurance anymore though.
  49. Faerie New Member

I wish I could sell my car. A friend of mine just got a new car and my dad said he'd like to buy me a car but it probably won't happen and he never should have told me because now I really want one. My car has no air conditioning, it whistles, and it's 17 years old.
  50. Sunna New Member

I lived in bonny Edinburgh for a year....lovely,lovely.
  51. mowgli New Member

Kudos on selling the car, Plaid! May your next one be fun and driver-friendly.

Faerie, I've never met a whistling car before! It sounds cool. Do you tell people it runs on a steam engine?

...Brad, can we live in bonny Edinburg for a year?
  52. Dane New Member

My mums car whistles. its a convertable that was involve dina crash. the windows don't quite close properly which causes them to whistle when we're on the motorway. Its very annoying when your trying to sleep :?
  53. Stercus Stercus New Member

It does it's job then, it stops your Mum going to sleep.

Yes! I'm going to London to see Muse at Wembley on the 17th of June..that's not even 2 days from now.Instant decision, but yea...!!!!
  55. Katcal I Aten't French !

Wow, and I thought I was impulsive for deciding to go to London in October...
  56. Rincewind Number One Doorman

Blah. I wrote a proper message and when timed out... here is brief summary

3 years ago have stomach problems and stomach bacteria- two doctors over the 3 year period said bacteria wasn't the cuase- turns out it is. It's been making me ill and is the reason i can't gain wieght, if you have it for a long period of time it also increases your risk of cancer! YAY! oh wait.

Now of super strong anti-boitics to get rid of it. Doc says i won't be bale to work next week while i'm on it. Which is a shame becuase it's my last two weeks of popworld and i don't realy want miss anything. but the lazy sid eof me is quite happy.
  57. TamyraMcG Active Member

I hope this gets you all better, Rinso. I hope you feel well enough to enjoy the downtime.
  58. Stercus Stercus New Member

Keep a positive attidute. These things hate a positive attitude.

    Also, keep smiling.
  59. Hsing Moderator

:shock:You gave me quite a shock there. Keep us updated.

On the upside, when the therapy works, will you be able to gain weight? I'd be too curios how a Rinso with some flesh on his bones would actually look...
  60. Rincewind Number One Doorman

I don't think the bacteria is pyhiscally stopping me from gaining wieght. more fucking up my appitiate, and making me feel ill when i do eat. This coupled with my intense lazyness means bulking up could never really happen. But it should be interested to see what happens when its all gone.

So far i'm fine in the anti-boitics no real side effects. I dunno if it will get worse as it goes on.

    Thank's for the concern. :)

Sunna, I'm also going to see muse on sunday! Woop!
