Damn you Garner for posting before I had a chance to. Also, if you continue reading on the Free Rice page they say that they are doing this as a part of ' help to self-help'. They buy the rice from local farmers to distribute in the immidieat area, to get the economy going.

Didn't see that, and actually I find that pleasantly surprising. Most aid organizations aren't that clever, sadly. I will ignore that because you obviously did not bother watching the video, and if you watched that you would have known that I was adding something constructive. I'm all in favor of helping people if it actually *helps* them rather than causes more harm in the long run. And Jews only existed for the past 3500 years or so, man, give or take a century.
I got passed 1000 and was trying to break the 40 level, but I kept getting to 39 and then messing up. I never could quite make 40. So after 2180 I decided to just quit for a while. Roman, I watched the video and found it quite insightful. I've passed it along to several others as well.
Got to 1000 at an average of 40 or 41. SOme of those words i don't think have been used in everyday speech since the 1800s, which leaves a lot of it up to guess work...
... I didn't even realise the vocab level was anything to do with my "score"... oh dear, I must play again !
averaging about 44 though I did get up to 47 briefly. I may have a slight advantage with some of the scots and scientific terms though.
I didn't get very far with it, as I didn't have time. I can't remember how many I did - about 800? - but my average level was 47.
I bet she's lying. Reputation to uphold and everything. Secretly she averaged 5 and somehow only managed to earn half an ear of corn and a rice krispie.
Good grief, I just did 8000 and caught myself getting up to 50 for a word or two, a few times, you can actually learn something doing this apparently.
i think that's part of the plan. food for the needy, and education for everyone. a high vocabulary is often correlated to a high intelligence and/or to reaching one's fullest potential
