  6. Katcal I Aten't French !

Damn you, damn you, damn you...
  7. Wow. Tim Curry and Sean Austin! I'm trying really hard not to squeal like a little school girl!
I checked out the pictures on the broken drum and it looks incredible! That whole site is pretty neat.

I was not able to find any information on if it was going to be available to us who do not have access to sky1. No mention of it here, either, unless I completely missed it some where. If I did, I apologize for repeating what's already been asked:
Will CoM be available on dvd after its shown on tv?
  8. Maljonic Administrator

    Yes it will.
  9. Sunna New Member

    Gar,I'm jealous!!
  10. Katcal I Aten't French !

I will, hopefully, have sky one before Easter. Life is good. I have just seen the trailer... I'm going to focus on the fact that Cristopher Lee totally rocks as Death's voice, and leave the rest until I have actually seen the movie, or I may just be unnecessarily mean.

It sounds good. Now I just have to teach Mum how to preset the video as I don't have Sky and she won't be at home on Easter Sunday evening when the first part is on.

Did you get distracted trying to spot yourselves in the film?
  18. Maljonic Administrator

We aren't in the first part, but we did recognise some of the Unseen University scenery and it was kind of cool knowing you've walked around it all.
  19. Rincewind Number One Doorman

I thought they where going to cut the Wyrmberg, i'm glad they didn't.
  20. Maljonic Administrator

I think the lure of a scantily dressed woman and dragons is just too much for any film maker to ignore.
  21. Katcal I Aten't French !

In order to see this, I have moved to a country that has Sky TV, and I will have cable by then. I will also be able to tape it, so if anyone's stuck without being able to watch...
  22. Maljonic Administrator

Tape? You mean like those plastic magnetic ribbon things they used to have in the mid twentieth century?
  23. Rincewind Number One Doorman

    I'll probablu just download it.

    YAR TO PIRACY!
  24. Maljonic Administrator

I think I'll buy it in HD after I buy a HD DVD of Blue Ray player.
  25. Marv New Member

Where can you download it from?
  26. Maljonic Administrator

You can't download it from anywhere, and even if you could we don't want to be talking about that on here please.

Nope, just a language relic of old times, I have a DVD-HDD recorder, so it would be recorded to DVD.

This is one of the things that leaves me rather puzzled about copyright issues, if you "tape" a programme from TV for a friend, whatever the media it's recorded on, is that piracy ? If you download a programme that's currently on a tv channel you have and pay for, is that piracy, just because you prefer to be able to add subtitles as a divx format allows you to ? I guess this probably needs a debate of its own, but it's still a question I have never gotten a decent answer to...
  29. Electric_Man Templar

Go for the HD-DVD, in years to come it will be much more cool and retro
  30. Maljonic Administrator

So that's what my drunken friend was going on about when he kept mourning the fate of HDDVD and bursting into tears!

@Katcal, I think basically that making copies of films and giving/selling them to other people is piracy/copyright theft
  31. Katcal I Aten't French !

I'm not, honestly not, defending one or the other point of view, here, it really seems so grey an area that I don't know what to think.
I agree that copying a DVD/CD, or downloading something that has been ripped off a DVD is piracy/copyright theft even more so when it's sold. What seems weird to me, is that if you tape something that is on TV, on a channel that you have paid for, be it by TV licence or Cable/sat and show it to someone else, even someone who also has also paid for access to that channel, it can be considered in the same light. And what seems even stranger is that this kind of dilemma never occurred when tape recorders arrived (or at least, not on this scale as far as I know), everyone was really pleased to be able to show other people what they had recorded on TV the other night, and so-on.
If you tape something for yourself and keep it and watch it time and time again is that piracy too ? Again, I'm only asking these questions because they genuinely puzzle me, I'm not trying to change anyone's mind on this but my own...

Without coming down on either side of the moral issue, the movie producers and networks are shooting themselves in the foot by not making popular titles available more widely and more quickly.

I can see Sky One wanting to broadcast The Colour of Magic first and exclusively. After all, they put up a lot of money for it and want to recoup that investment not only in advertising, but in new customers to their service. But this is a global marketplace, and they are marketing it globally through the internet, with not only their own official web sites, but also through MySpace and Facebook, and I'm sure other social sites. They are generating worldwide interest, but then only allowing a very few in one geographical location to see it.

It took a year for Hogfather to be broadcast in this country, and the Region 1 DVD only this week became available. The thought of waiting a year to see The Colour of Magic is almost unbearable! :-O

Those who are already fans, or have listened to the hype and want the product, will find it any way they can.

Impatience is a poor excuse for theft though!

You could always visit for Easter and make sure your hotel has Sky:wink:
  34. belleferret New Member

Well can I stay with you then?
    ;)
  35. jaccairn New Member
