    Hi all,

I am conducting some undergraduate research on using the internet
and how this interacts with mood and state of mind.

I'd be very grateful if you could help me by filling out a very simple
online questionnaire (10 mins max). It's completely anonymous
(no email address etc is needed) and hopefully should be quite
    interesting!

I'm posting here because I am trying to get a wide range of different
peoples' perspectives and experiences, hope this is ok.

Here's the link to the questionnaire:

If you would like to know what I find out in this study I’ll be happy to send
you an e-copy of my report when it’s done.

    Thanks for your help!

    That was... interesting!

I must have a serious suggest-ability issue, because as I kept reading phrases such as "given enough provocation, I will hit another person" and "I have trouble controlling my temper", I felt an increasing urge to beat someone up.

And before that, reading a series of questions like "For the most part, I'm happy with my life" and "I'm totally miserable!", made me feel first totally happy with my life, and then afterwards - totally miserable!

So be careful with this stuff - it's potent!

And good luck with your research!

    Done.

I think you need to ask more questions clarifying occupation as some people's jobs require them to spend lots of time on the internet. For example, someone who is an online game developer would spend lots of time on the internet looking at games developed by other people.

I agree - my job is mostly working on the internet using it in one form or another. I'd say that I have to spend at least five hours a day on it, if not more, and the rest is taken up by email...and surfing for my own amusement :)

With the whole 'will I punch someone if given enough provocation", I'd say I would...but then I think I'm quite even tempered because I haven't done it yet. heh.

That line looks especially well next to your signature

    Hi Mowgli,

I'm sorry about that, hopefully you're back to normal now!?

    Thanks for doing the survey

    Hi Marcia,

thanks for taking the time to do my questionnaire. It's a very good point you make, and something I'll bear in mind.

    I did it too.

    There's one question I didn't get:
It doesn't really make sense to me. When have I been bothered? What is the exact point of the question?
  9. redneck New Member

Hsing, i think the question is asking if something that doesn't usually bother has bothered you lately. Like my dad, for instance. When he bites a chip, he doesn't close his mouth for the first chomp or two. Most of the time that doesn't bother me, but sometimes it just pisses me off. I think that's what the question is asking. If I didn't confuse the issue even more. If I did, well it'll be par for the course for me. I can't seem to do anything right lately.

    Hi Hsing,

my questionaire is made up from a number of different questionnaires which have been developed and validated over a period of time and published in peer reviewed journals. That particular question is one of a number, which when answered in a certain way, indicate a person is likely to be experiencing a particular mood/state of mind. The reply that redneck posted is how I interpreted it, but I know what you mean, I thought it sounded a bit funny when I first read it!

    Hope that helps

    Anna
