Not actually my photo but one my brother took of the cake we had done for my Dad's 80th. It is all edible.

Ohhhh, my dad would be soooo jealous !
  3. redneck New Member

jaccairn, I've got to show that picture to my sister. She makes cakes and I think she would be able to do something like that. Out of curiosity, what was the train made of?
  4. jaccairn New Member

I'm not sure. We didn't actually cut in to it. I think it's cake covered in icing. Mum was going to find out as she's hoping to keep it. I'll let you know.

A photo of a couple of Stone Plovers taken in Ranganthittu - a bird sanctuary close to Bangalore. This was taken from a boat.

I've uploaded it here this time, couldn't setup the direct photo link to picasaweb very well.

The train was made purely of icing.

I now own a digital camera. I could flood you with pictures!

Sausages in a bun! (No bun in the picture, but that's how they are being served.)

    More candles...

  8. sampanna New Member

Nice candle photos. Is it usual to have candles lit like that? I assume that is in a church.
  9. Hsing Moderator

It is, at least in Catholic churches - besides from the usual candles, you can buy a small candle for 50 Cents and lit it for someone you wish well, who might be in trouble, etc ("I went to the church and lit a candle for him after the accident.") I honestly don't know if the Protestants do that, too. The second candle picture was taken in St Marien Cathedral in Erfurt.

My other two candidates for the "Magic" competition...

  11. Katcal I Aten't French !

Wow, I like those two... the last one is very magic !
  12. Rincewind Number One Doorman

    Yeah. What is it?
  13. Katcal I Aten't French !

    A fireball, obviously.
  14. mazekin Member

Nuh uh. It's most definately evidence of Extra Terestrials here on earth. Either that or the new Harry Potter Movie is being shot nearby...

    It's really eerie.
  15. Hsing Moderator

The funny thing is, I have no idea. Further down the road, you can see a car approaching, I guess it is some kind of reflection... i was just standing there after dusk trying to take pictures of the mist. I've got more with strange light effects in them... :)
  16. TamyraMcG Active Member

    It must be magic then.

THEY'RE ALL DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE!
  20. Katcal I Aten't French !

*giggle* thanks Hsing, I needed a laugh
  21. Maljonic Administrator

That German guy on the bike wants to drive on the right side, but he's overcome by peer pressure.
  22. sampanna New Member

This is an easy one - the hand holding the camera.
  23. Hsing Moderator

Actually, I assumed the gas station in the background has extra cheap gas, say, less than 1,50 Euros per liter.

Allow me to interrupt hte discussion (which I don't want to end by doing this) with a picture...

This sight would be more shocking in an ENglish car, particularly on a British road, and even more so at 100 kmph. Alas, it is a German van standing behind the train docks in Weimar.
  24. Katcal I Aten't French !

strange indeed! is it just a mask on the headrest, judging from the zebra striped seat covers, or is it a person?
  25. Hsing Moderator

    That's a mask.
  26. sampanna New Member

The mask and the pink dice make quite a combination!
  27. Katcal I Aten't French !

The pink dice are definitely scarier
  28. Hsing Moderator

Pitty the plush snake dangling there faded into the background, colour wise...
  29. Hsing Moderator

Also... I have been having weird dreams after shooting pics of this one...
The car was standing right behind its grounds, by the way.

The family weren't called Adams by any chance?

Here's one I found scary... I just hope Judi has no need to go there.

I was so glad someone else posted in this thread. Is it still in use? Does no one have random photos to share anymore?
  33. Joculator The 'Old' Fool

Inspired by Hsing I thought I'd browse through some of my old albums.
Now this may not be of interest to anyone else but me, but I found it scary enough to post.

This larger picture is a section of a shot I took down in Shrewsbury a couple of years ago when I was visiting my friend Matt. I've just noticed the guy in the bottom corner. It's me! But, it can't be! I was the one with the camera. I know they say everyone has a doppelgänger, but it was strange to see me staring back at myself. The small picture, for comparison, is me just starting on a new beard for the morris dance season. (Well I think it is.)

    Now I'm confused.
  34. Hsing Moderator

Confusion! in my old home town, a guy from the neighbourhood regularly insisted I must be a woman named Barbara who studies maths and used to work in his favourite pub. I never met her though, only her stalker... :(
  35. Katcal I Aten't French !

wow yes, unsettling that one. Luckily for them, no-one looks like me...
  36. Hsing Moderator

You just haven't met her yet. Not that I'm saying you're not unique. :)

And this would have been my alternative entry for the ongoing "Shadow and Light" - contest... I would have picked it if the theme had been "light" only.

Hsing, your second picture is both really beautiful and kind of creepy. It's the stone eyes and the moss, and the way it looks like the cherub is sinking into the stone. It's a gorgeous picture.

Joculator, that bloke REALLY looks like you!
  39. mazekin Member

Hsing, that pic was fantastic! And now my background. Sorry for the theft! If you mind, I'll get rid of it.

Now, can anyone please tell me how to upload a photo without it appearing as a thumbnail?

Oh, and below is a picture from a nearby beach this evening where I had a lovely walk.

You'll need to have your images stored on a server such as Photobucket. You can sign up for free.
When you post a [New Reply], click on the insert image icon [IMG] in the toolbar and enter the URL of your picture. It should appear full size in the body of your post.
I try to keep the size to around 800x600 pixels just to prevent people having to scroll round the image to see it.

Nice seascape and sunset. I need to travel across to the other side of England to see one of those. We only get decent sunrises in the Durham area.

Here are a few crappy ones from the iPhone crappy camera... it's actually so crappy it sometimes leads to strange and interesting results.

A likely Gaspode, don't you think?

And one I could have entered for light and shadows if I hadn't jumped in already:

I like #2 Kat. Is that a local resident or a tourist demonstrating the 'Guiness Catatonia' position on the side of the verge?
  43. Katcal I Aten't French !

didn't stop to ask him... but I do like the way the crap trigger of the iPhone camera made it all warped because I was moving at the time, and made it look rather trippy...
  44. mazekin Member

That really wonky one is pretty cool Kat. It looks like he's lying down because he can't take the world warping like that any more.

Thanks for the tip Joculator! I've been trying to post this one for ages but I hated that it was coming out as a thumbnail. I can be a bit dense sometimes.
This was not taken recently, but it's my favourite photo that I've ever taken.

What do the signs on the first one say?

Pic 2: Yes, very Fear and Loathing, only kinder... erm. I like Mazekins comment. :)

Pic 3: I think the dog looks to clean to be Gaspode, you'd actually want to stroke its back (even though the dog looks like it wouldn't want you to do that!)

Are these last two photos also mobile phone pictures? I miss beaches. It loos so nice.

    Mazekin, a fairy meadow!
  46. Katcal I Aten't French !

Yep they're all mobile pics... sometimes they don't suck quite so much as long as you look at small versions. The beach is the one down the end of my road, it is a very nice beach, we even went for a swim today and it was FUN.

The signs say crazy stuff. The actual sentences kind of make a bit of sense but put together it just looks like something written while on LSD or something, totally weird. They are right beside a road that goes to our nearest big town, along the side of the estuary. I kept seeing just bits as we drove past so we stopped to see what it said.
  47. Hsing Moderator

And I thought I had deciphered somthing about daffodils...

You have a beach in your neioghbourhood...? ...wants...
  48. Katcal I Aten't French !

Yup a very nice beach too, and a big house with a guest room and plenty of crashing space and a garden... Katcon is when you want it folks...
  49. Hsing Moderator

    Sounds better and better.
If I start saving it now, I might be able to make it in 2011...

The following photo is of a snakeboat practising for a race - these boats, as you can see, are really long. You can also see some houseboats in the background.

  53. jaccairn New Member

I'd hate to try and manoeuvre something that long. How many paddlers are there?
  54. sampanna New Member

I believe there are a 100 paddlers, but I haven't tried to count from the photo.
  55. Katcal I Aten't French !

Yesterday we went to the giant's causeway, I have always wanted to visit since I was tiny and I must say it is one of the most loveliest, amazingest, breathtakingest places that I have ever visited... I could have stayed there forever just taking pictures. Except I filled up a 2GB memory card and then had to be dragged away by force.

oh, and I'm putting this one in a little bigger because otherwise you can't see the crazy little rope bridge that connects the island in the background:

  57. Joculator The 'Old' Fool

Does someone live there all year round or is it a something like a wildlife warden's cabin for seasonal use? I want one.
  58. Katcal I Aten't French !

What, on the island? Don't know, the bridge was closed due to Weather*... It does look lovely though doesn't it...

*Yes, the kind that deserves a capital letter. The sun is only shining on the pic because the wind was blowing so hard the clouds couldn't hang around.
