    NaNoWriMo 2008 (and UnUnWriMo)

    National Novel Writing Month

I came across the original post by chrisjordan here and I think it sounds like a great idea.

I know i'm jumping the gun, but I've signed up and am looking forward to some frantic, direct, brain to page novelling without the need to check, re-check and generally be stumped by the perfectionist elements of my personality... Who is interested? 50,000 words in 1 month...can't be that hard...errm....can it?

Read up on the NaNoWriMo journey, or sign up and get ready for November, here.

    EDIT:
I read in the forums on that site about someone doing their own July NaNoWriMo, just for fun. Is anyone interested in doing a UnUnNoWriMo (Unofficial Unseen Novel Writing Month) in August? Same word count, we can moan about the impossibility of completing 1613 words a day and/or support each other in our endeavours, it would be practice for November and we can post the (in)complete novels here.

    Sporks

Are any of you members of that board? I found a disturbing reference to sporks....although there is a nice spork pit idea I can see manifesting itself in a boardfic somewhere down the line.

    ahem. sporky?

Just registered. I'm in. I'll at least make a mad attempt to write a novel in november.

It may kill me... or at least my college career... but I figure it can't hurt to try.

    8 Days to go

National Novel Writing Month starts in 8 days.

Hex and I are signed up, though i'm not sure how well i'm going to do, considering it's almost the end of October and my blog is 2 months behind!

    Any other takers? --->Go Here<---

I mean, who wouldn't want to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days?

I'm going to do my best though (Ganbarimasu!)!

Is this your 'official' or 'unofficial' fan club, Mal? :D

I've had only one e-mail from a support group in Perth. They wanted to have a pre Nanowrimo meeting at a cafe. You don't have to join a country group if you don't want. I believe that's only if you want the support network.

I think the concept is fantastic and hope people aren't deterred by the e-mails thing. I'm sure there's an option to opt out of receiving e-mails. I don't receive that many from them...

Mal, did you finish the 50,000 words in a month? How did you go?

    Nanowrimo has begun!

And I am already 4500 words behind par!
Maybe I should have taken some advice and come up with some sort of plan before starting.....maybe it will be more fun this way. I 'm going to treat it like a board story - that way I might be able to keep trudging on, though our board oddyssey's (I hate that word!) seem to have dropped off the planet.
