Randywine - you've spotted it! Hogswatch and Hogmanay - who needs tinsel, glass balls and fairies with trees stuck up their bums - pork and haggis - that's the way to go!

It was a very merry Christmas and I did survive all my traveling, I have just a week left of my break from work and one more journey to see my fella and celebrate the New Year, plans are to go to a standup comedy show at a hotel near his house, have champagne and a kiss at midnight. I've never done that sort of thing before, it will be a wonderful change of pace.
My family had a lot of fun with the little ones, Connor kept being told he was getting underwear, but he knew better. He got to see his daddy and his daddy gave him a cool Mach six car with a Speed racer figure and a Cop Car with Lights and siren, he got a half a ton of other cars and stuff and he's not too old to have fun with the stuff his little sister got either. She is still willing to share with him, but it won't be much longer untill the fur starts to fly, I'm thinking. She got several dollies and teddies and trains and balls and, rattles that play classical music, she prefers cars. ( I gave her some)
I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year and that 2009 is better then 2008, I have a feeling it might be.

    Christmas arguments

It was a regular feature of our family Christmas get-togethers that my father (an atheist) and myself (an agnostic) would spend a large part of the afternoon arguing religion with a nominal "uncle" - relationships can get complicated in large families if you don't take short cuts - who was a Methodist minister (he actually baptised me) and a very senior parole officer. These arguments stopped by the decree of my mother when the husband of one of the hostesses died (the get-together rotated through the families) and my mother thought she might be upset by the arguments - we only discovered after the minister died that he had always looked forward to the arguments!

By the way, Grace may recognize the name of the minister - Donald Bell - he was somewhat important in the church organization.
