Aardman Studios' warehouse burned down. They were celebrating the box-office success of "Curse of the Were-Rabbit" when they got the news. I like Nick Park's reaction, that in light of the India/Pakistan Earthquake this "isn't a big deal." Article here They lost (among other things): * The Chicken Pie Machine from Chicken Run, built at a cost of £8,000 over six months. * Figures of Shorn the Sheep, from A Close Shave, and the Evil Penguin from The Wrong Trousers, as well as storyboards, scripts and props. * Characters from the British Gas Creature Comforts adverts. * The "butter man" character made for the Lurpak adverts. * The MTV award for Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" video.
Nick Park's will probably make enough money from the insurance to not have to get backers for his next production I am quite sad about morph
That is a pity. I enjoyed watching most of the stuff that came out of that studio. The British Gas Creature Comforts adverts and the Lurpack butter man with his trombone were cool as of course was all the Wallace and Grommit stuff. It's a sad day that Morph has gone but I think the artcicle got it wrong: Surely however ironic it was poor old Morphs not going to appreciate it.
