7 or 8 blasts so far, but we're ok. One was less than a kilometer away, just where our office lane meets the main road. Just thought I'd let people know - not sure if internet access will continue.

Sampanna - - somehow these news didn't make it over here - what kind of blasts? What is happening?
Needless to say, keep yourself safe.

It just happened a couple of hours ago. Think there have been 5-6 .. not 7-8. Seeing conflicting reports on TV. From what I've heard on the TV so far, these were low intensity bombs, targeted at normally crowded areas during lunchtime. 5 blasts within 12 minutes. Our phone lines are already erratic, internet access shouldn't be affected hopefully.

I came home as soon as I heard, mainly because my wife had gone shopping in that area in the morning, and wasn't answering her phone. Luckily, came home and she was peacefully watching a movie, completely unaware and her phone was on silent.

Cripes Sam, keep yourselves safe eh! That kind of situation is always so strange, really surreal, I remember when Toulouse exploded, and that was "just" an accident... Stay together and don't panic, not much more you can do, really...

I echo everyone's thoughts for you and your family's safety.
The BBC News has published a small report with a few more details.

    Anyone claim responsibility yet?

Glad to hear you're OK, Sampanna. I can't imagine what it must have been like.

Take care Sam, I hope this time they find out who is behind it. No one deserves to have to worry about being blown up trying to live their life.

This gets suckier. They defused a live bomb in Bangalore yesterday - this makes 4 bombs in a one kilometer radius from my office.

Even worse - Ahmedabad got hit with 14 blasts yesterday. Again low intensity blasts, but these killed much more people. Its like a game of catch me if you can :(

Stay safe, Samphs. I've been in that situation before, even had the bomb squad defuse explosives on the railroad just opposite my own house. I used to be terrified of public transportation.

The worst part is when you get used to it. And compensate for what had become a common reality with automatic suspicion and a very cynical view.

Try to avoid that, man. There's enough cynics around as it is...

I imagine it to be hard to continue a normal, daily life after this, but I hope your vities find back to some sort of normality really soon... And i hope those responsible are found. I suppose this tactics of small blasts everywhere is meant to be more back breaking to the collective psyche of people...

If I believed in God I would say "oh my god" right now,but maybe "ye,gods" will suffice. I hope you and your family can keep safe,I will think of you.

Si, sucky thing. Bunch of cowards really, targeting people who can't defend themselves. One of the bombs which was found and defused was in a playground.

Take care, man. Though these aren't cowards, not by a long shot. They're cold, calculating bastards who seem to be working on maximizing the fear effect, which by and large is what terrorism is all about.

What they're trying to instill is fear, uncertainty, and ultimately chaos. The erosion of the basic safety that most people enjoy in their day-to-day lives isn't a pleasant experience, by a long shot - been there, done that.

Know the worst part, Samphs? By their own rules, they can never lose. Ever. They don't base their efforts on doctrines of military victory, merely the satisfaction of giving you a mental black eye.
