"The Scotsman" has opened it's digital archive for one week. I can thouroughly reccomend it - even to non Scots. History through the eyes of Scottish journalists, Lincoln's Assination, Titanic etc etc. And this poignant piece from World War 1. Christmas Amenities at the Front Here's hoping those of all nationalities serving their countries this Christmas/Holiday time can have a peaceful and safe one. Check out the archive before they make it pay per view again here
If you get the chance, watch teh film "Joyeux Noel" I don't know if its out anywhere but France, but if it is available, its good. Its about Christmas eve in the first world war- scottish, french, and germans in the trenches. Very touching, and a generally good film.
