He's a very interesting guy, though to be honest I thought he was old when I was a kid so I'm quite surprised he lasted has long as he did.
Oh no, he may have been old but he was still one of the greatest S/F writers ever, and he was so in awe of this world and the universe he helped many people see wonders they might never have ever known. Plus there is the whole communications satellite idea, we all owe a debt to that.
Another amazing mind gone, although as Mal said, I was kind of under the impression that he was either already very old when I was young or even gone already, I guess there aren't that many writers still alive who have that kind of cult-book and also academic fame... Still, on a purely human level, 90 isn't a bad score. May he now rest in peace with his mind up in the stars where it always was.
