I got 18/20, but I would have got 19 if I'd been thinking. Stupid MSN, making me spell bad. Education in Australia is good.
The question was: (whited out so the answers aren't revealed). edit: put colour stuff in quote, now it's properly invisible edit: my coding is an abomination
I got 15. Got most of the "what do these words mean" questions wrong. I bow to thee who are my superiors on this subject. I never got high marks for language at school.
Cool quiz, Electric_Man. I reached the heady heights of 19 too! I would raise issue at the meaning of avarice.... Curse you, retired teacher Janice Owen, I was robbed. EDIT: Realising that in my lurgy-ridden stupor, I'd left a spoiler for the quiz in my post. Apologies if I spoilt anyone's fun. ....and please pass the tissues *sniffle*
I made 17 out of 20. I went wrong with food for thought question, the one about the long lost brother , and another one in the first section. But I was correct in the important categories (spelling and which word to choose), so I'm quite content with the results.
18/20 - I fell down on two spelling ones where I got doubled letters wrong. Hidden spoiler: As far as the "long lost" one goes, I got it right, but not by grammar rules but by working out by a process of elimination what the question setter was thinking of - I actually wanted a "None of the above" or "Nothing is missing" option - I can't see the hyphen as necessary!
I am s-m-r-t. I got 12 right out of 20. Thats why I have Grace as a god. I need all the help I can get. Go Grace.
I got 16/20... Well, it's been a while since my school days when I actually used the english language regularely. The fact that I had mostly the same mistakes others did is still a comfort to me. The lost brother , accommodation (?), one of the what does it mean and the food for thought one So although my ego hurts (I want to be the beeeeeest ) I think I did alright.
I did this a while ago...I think I got 18/20 I got the same one mal did with the spelling (accomodation...accomedation? I haven't got a clue to be honest) but my spelling has always been more guesswork than anything else. I also got the long lost brother one wrong, I went through it pretty quickly. Has anyone tried the physics and maths ones yet? edit: url mix up
In a similar vein, did anyone participate in the "Test The Nation" quiz on the BBC last night? I had a look at the online sample prior to the event (and got 19/20, I might add. "Fell at the finishing line"; the story of my life!) and it seemed very good. However, his Lordship tells me that they included text speak! How can it be? Say it ain't so, BBC, say it ain't so! It's a downward spiral; the next step being Presenters in short-sleeved shirts and no ties. P.S. I've removed the massive spoiler in my earlier post. Mea culpa EDIT: missed a word out
Damn.. I can't get it to work. My computer is refusing to download the latest Macromedia flash player. It's very frustrating. No error message or anything, nothing happens.
I got 18/20 for the maths, but coudnt get the physics one to work. I got the sequence and the factorisation question wrong.
Only 16/20 for the Maths one. I made some stupid mistakes, and couldn't remember how to factor an equation, but couldn't be bothered to take the time to work it out. Physics - 3/10! No gender bias in my education!
Wow! I got 20/20 for maths (I'm as scared as you are), though really I should as I am studying all those things in school. Plus algebra and all that is one of the few things I find easy as pie. Physics on the other hand... Well I actually got 7/10 but bearing in mind that about half of them were not-quite-educated guesses then you see that I should really stop sleeping during science.
If you'd watched the show you'd have seen my name in the credits! GO ME! They did have TXT speak becuase, like it or loathe it, it's an form of modern language.
The newsest Test The Nation exam can be done here http://www.bbc.co.uk/testthenation/english/index.shtml[/url] I got a crappy 35/70, though I couldn't do any of the audio questions as I'd no sound in college!
I got 16/20 on the spelling test, not too bad for me when my spelling and punctuation is normally awful. I got 42/70 on the test the nation quiz.
The downward spiral began when BBC Radio newsreaders were no longer obliged to wear dinner jackets (tuxedos to you Americans)! Lord Reith - where are you when we need you?
I got 17/20, but I had a problem with this question: What is missing from this sentence? Its all over now
I got 20/20 Takes bow and feels chuffed... I will admit that some of it was a bit tricky and having educated guesses was done... I think Hsing's 15/20 for a second language was pretty brilliant Will now go and find the maths test...
Maths I got 19/20 cheesed off about the factorial question at Q19... Oh so long ago, I did use a calculator on the more difficult calculations but I justify myself in the knowledge that I could have worked it out eventually. honest.
