A small issue with this, I fear. As far as I can see, it just doesn't work.
  2. sleepy_sarge New Member

It did until sometime yesterday. Then all of a sudden the code started appearing as text. So I switched to good ole Bob
  3. Roman_K New Member

Then I [i:a898de69b2]did[/i:a898de69b2] see italics in someone's sig! Huzzah, my memory still works!

Is it html that doesn't work or UBB?
  5. sleepy_sarge New Member

It's html - never thought to try UBB - which as you can see does work!

It didn't work an hour ago. Time to try this again, then.

edit: Gah! Sleepy, show me [i:ea62acbde5]exactly[/i:ea62acbde5] what you did, please.
  7. sleepy_sarge New Member

[] these brackets with an i between one set and a /i between the other
  8. Roman_K New Member

But... but that's exactly what I did...
  9. sleepy_sarge New Member

LOL it is frustrating eh? Start small and italicise one little word?

Take a look at it, man.

That is weird. I have html and ubb enabled in my profile. I assume you do too.

I cut and paste from your displayed sig line, pressed the submit thingy under my avatar and I got italics - as you can see
  12. Roman_K New Member

Yep, both HTML and UBB code are enabled. As you can see, they work everywhere except in my signature.

    MAL!

    The site hates you.

I wonder if this is related to the fact that Roman's is one of the accounts on which the "Find all posts by this member" feature doesn't work? Probably not, but just a thought.

Edit: If your preferences say 'Always allow BB code' and 'Always allow html', and you press 'Disable BBCode in this post' or 'Disable html in this post', does it override your profile options?
  15. Roman_K New Member

    Testing, <i>testing</i>, 1 2 3...

edit: Yes to your question, Grace.
  16. sampanna New Member

Italics didn't work in my signature either. Not that I wanted them, just checking to see if Roman was the only cursed personality on board :).
  17. Buzzfloyd Spelling Bee

Well, it works in mine! I just don't understand this. After all, it's not like Roman is a computer dimwit, like me.

When I post this, over at the left it says "HTML is ON, BBCode is ON, Smilies are ON". I assume it also says that on yours, Roman. Not trying to be patronising, just checking everything.

HTML is allowed? Bad news for the site. It lets the script kiddys in. Especially in PHP Nuke.
  19. Garner Great God and Founding Father

indeed. not just that, but it creates a situation where you'll find people with all sorts of "artistic" signatures that are very obtrusive.

i don't think we want that, hmm?
  20. mr_scrub New Member

I know nothing about computers so I don't even know what HTML coding is. Or I might know it as someting else. Please tell me how to write my signature in HTML I would like to have: He can't stop us. We're on a mission from Glod and when I write just that down it dosen't work.
  21. Maljonic Administrator

Do you mean just write stuff in like Garner has in the post above you?
  22. Katcal I Aten't French !

Mr_scrub, check your profile (link at the top of this page), it should have your signature (just plain text, HTML s disabled anyway) in a big box and further down the page a choice labelled "Always attach my signature: Yes/No" make sure that has the yes button selected.

Then, when posting, you should see that the "Attach signature" box is ticked. If it isn't, then there's a problem...

    Thank you so much.

Just out of curiosity I tried BB and HTML in my signature box with no result.

The old favourite of switching off all the options, saving and switching them back on again doesn't make any difference either.

Perhaps it's a preset condition that you have so many posts before it activates, like removing the blue bar. Just guessing here as BB and HTML code [b:192208430b][color=blue:192208430b]works[/color:192208430b][/b:192208430b] [i:192208430b]in[/i:192208430b] [u:192208430b][color=green:192208430b]all[/color:192208430b][/u:192208430b] [color=brown:192208430b]my[/color:192208430b] [color=darkblue:192208430b]posts.[/color:192208430b]

bbcode should work in your signature, but it's a bit random sometimes. I think it makes a difference if you go to edit your profile from the "Profile" link in the forums or via the "Your Account" link at the top of the page, but I'm not sure which way round is better, if any. In fact it probably works randomly whichever you click just to confuse you, some kind of Unseen Demon. :)
  26. Joculator The 'Old' Fool

Thanks for that Maljonic. The code works through the profile link. I hadn't actually tried to access my profile through that route before. :)
