I'm asking the complete knowledge base of Boardania: Name some songs that make you happy. I for example have on that list: [list:cea950b724] [i:cea950b724] Jackson 5 - ABC Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather for Ducks Summer time - The Fresh Prince [/i:cea950b724] [/list:u:cea950b724] Care to share [i:cea950b724]your[/i:cea950b724] happy songs?

[/i:5c95eb7d9a]Lyrical genius. [i:5c95eb7d9a]The Macarena.[/i:5c95eb7d9a] [i:5c95eb7d9a]the ketchup song[/i:5c95eb7d9a]
"Let this be a prayer" from Rollo and Sister Bliss "All mine" from Portishead "Sing Sing With A Swing" fromChris Boardman "Spellbound" from Rae and Christian

Secondly - it's Witchdoctor by The Cartoons I'll get back to you on mine once I've cleaned Witchdoctor out of my head, but I have to immediately agree with Nice Weather For Ducks, Phlon.
Good vibrations by the beach boys. Actually, anything by the beach boys. THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, by Europe.
Oh, yeah! Walking on sunshine, normally by Katrina and the waves. However, I have ska version that's like, 20 times happier
Speaking of ska, Fishbone made a cover of Aha's Take On Me in fast uptempo. That one's always made me smile.

Some of my happy songs also fall into the 'cheesy, but good memories' category. I also like: California Love by Tupac Untill recently 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton The Ballad of Bonnie & Clyde - Glen Campbell Waterloo Sunset- The Kinks Think - Aretha Franklin Handbags and Gladrags- Sterophonics Hard to Handle- Otis Redding Gimme Some Lovin'- Spencer Davis Group There are more.. I just can't think of them at the moment..

Hadn't heard it before, but just did a quick google for it and found an mp3 sample. I wish I hadn't.
In justification/migitation, can I just point out I know it sucks, (badly,) it just makes me smile remembering the absurd costumes and the way EVERYONE in my old primary school knew the words to it. . . . . . . .
I vote we just shoot you in a leg then... ;-) You get to choose which leg... 'Cuz we is nice like dat. PS: [i:9f522df664]Which[/i:9f522df664] leg, not [i:9f522df664]Whose[/i:9f522df664] Edit to add choices.
Adding to the list: [list:234768bd69]Air - All I Need RHCP - The Zephyr song and "Mirror to the Sun" Jack Johnson - Upside Down[/list:u:234768bd69]
Cure - Friday I'm in love Jack Johnson - Banana Pancakes (ok, basically any Jack Johnson song) Queen - The list's too long, a lot of Queen songs... Radio Gaga is a good one to be happy to. Fool's Garden - Lemon Tree... we said songs that make you happy, we never said they had to be the best song ever !
Hmm Divine Comedy: Songs of Love Genesis: Firth of Fifth Gogol Bordello: Start Wearing Purple Gorillaz: Every Planet We Reach Is Dead I like songs with long instrumentals. Angua, I'm sorry to say I've never seen such an appalling list of songs. The Cha Cha Slide sends me into a rabid bloodthirsty killing frenzy.
Party Hard- Andrew WK Most of the Weebl songs Shaving Cream Poisoning Pigeons in the Park- Tom Lehr Trial by Fire - Thou shalt not Steak for Chicken - Moldy Peaches Chattahoochee - Alan Jackson Walk the Dinosaur- Was (not Was) The Cold Miser song Theme from Flipper Sinister Minister - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones And others. These are the songs that pretty much bring out 'happy'
Simon and Garfunkel's 'Slow down, you move too fast' springs to mind. Lazy sunny holiday mornings.......'I'm dappled and drowzy and ready for sleep - let the morningtime drop all it's petals on me....' Lovely stuff. (Also, Orrdos, Katrina's nephew is in my philosophy and politics classes at college - we tease him mercilessly poor lad )
Day Dream Believer - Monkees I'm A Believer - Monkees Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band There are others that i can't think of right now!
Hmm - feel good tracks? Wonder Stuff - Dizzy (Never heard the Tommy Roe original) Levellers - Beautiful Day Texas - Let Me Sleep There are quite a few others, but it always depends on the mood that I start in...
[quote:4c85d0a568="Electric_Man"][quote:4c85d0a568="Angua_rox"] I can't remember the name, but it goes [i:4c85d0a568]"Ooh eeh, oooh ah ah, ting tang, walla walla bing bang, Ooh eeh, oooh ah ah, ting tang, walla walla bing bang!" [/i:4c85d0a568]Lyrical genius. [/quote:4c85d0a568] Firstly - you should probably be shot for crimes against music. Secondly - it's Witchdoctor by The Cartoons[/quote:4c85d0a568] It's by David Seville, twit of a carrot-lover. It was simply covered by man other bands. David Seville, whose real name was Ross Bagdasarian, would go on to create the Chipmunks, using the same sped-up methods used to make Witch Doctor. As for what Ba listens to, he prefers to listen to the suffering of others. *Shoots Electric Man in the foot*
For upbeat but leaning towards lame songs my picks go to (forgive me the lack of band knowledge)... I go do-do-do, push pineapple shake a tree... Barbie Girl - Aqua My current favourite is: Private Education - Chris Connelly Middle of the Hill - Josh Pyke
[quote:c8ccb30cd2="Bradthewonderllama"] Trial by Fire - Thou shalt not [/quote:c8ccb30cd2] ::beam:: Lesseee... - "Hard Day's Night", Beatles - "Scarborough Fair", Simon & Garfunkel - "Losing My Religion", REM - "Alisa", Sekret - "Blue Bird", Mashina Vremeni - "Winken, Blinken and Nod", Irish Rovers - "Kunstliche Welten", Wolfsheim - "Christmas in Sarajevo", Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Adiemus" by Adiemus - "Scotsman" by anyone I could go on forever, but the others are more of either melancholy or kick-arse variety. The ones I just listed are chicken soup for the brain .
Take Me Out - Teh Franz We're In This Together Now - Nine Inch Nails Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun - Pink Floyd Run - Snow Patrol Sing - The Dresden Dolls Enjoy The Silence - Depeche Mode I have wierd taste in happy songs. :cooler:
I choose my extraneous, and invisible, BUT COMPLETELY REAL, third leg. I don't really LIKE any of those songs, but listening to them makes me smile. . . . . Like that. Well actually more like this :snakeman: but hey, looks more normal. . . . normaller? no, more normal.
[quote:67b9d8fc1a="spiky"]"Iwould walk 500 miles" by The something or others...[/quote:67b9d8fc1a] That's so weird, that song was on TV last night, and I was wondering who sang it too.... (the theme to Benny and Joon, in this case)
Songs that make me go . . . Lottery winners on acid - The Crimea White boy with a feather - Jason Downes Mardy bum - The Arctic Monkeys Moonage Daydream - David Bowie. Yoshimi vs the Pink robots - The Flaming Lips.
Snow Patrol - Run is also one of my favourites. Matt Pond PA - The Moviegoer Tenacious D - any song by them really. Jimmy Eat World - The Middle. Horrible music really, but cheerful. Eisley - My Lovely Incubus - Southern Girl
Most of the songs I can think from the top of my head are greek but the following are not bad either when it comes to cheering up. Slow Jam-New Order You never can tell-Chuck Berry Holding out of a hero-Jennifer Saunders (aka Fairy Godmother in Shrek) All Star-Smash Mouth
Last night on TV there was a show on called 'the 50 best one hit wonders’. (The voice over guy did stipulate that most of the participants did have more than just one single out!) I really hate those '50 best of' shows' but this is not the place for a rant. Anyway, I was amazed about how many brought a smile to my face for example: Jump Around- House of pain Spirit in the Sky- Dr. & the Medics Blind Melon- no rain (added by me I don't think it was in the show) Rappers Delight- Sugarhill Gang Grove is in the heart- Deelite 99 red balloons - Nina Rock me Amadeus - Falco And the number one was *drumroll* Kung foo fighting by Carl Douglas
Yep, I Can See Clearly Now and Kung Foo Fighting - thanks Sampanna and Perdita. Good grief, now I've got them both simultaneously in my head, it's confusing as hell......
Almost anything by Wierd Al or Bela Fleck. Short People - Randy Newman Political Science - Randy Newman The Ozzy Fudd, Bunny Slayer Song Back in Black - ACDC
First of all, songs that people have mentioned that also make [i:3328128008]me[/i:3328128008] smile: Nice Weather for Ducks - Lemon Jelly Songs of Love - Divine Comedy Start Wearing Purple - Gogol Bordello Barbie Girl - Aqua (mainly because of Chris' reaction when he sees it on my 'now playing' msn thingy, but also because it's fun) Run - Snow Patrol All Star - Smash Mouth 99 red balloons - Nina Kung foo fighting - Carl Douglas Other one's that I thought up all by myself *proud* Politik - Coldplay Pounding - Doves Take My Hand - Dido (These 3 are odd choices, but make me happy in a non-super-grinning way, more an uplifting way) Black Tongue - Yeah Yeah Yeahs One Week - Barenaked Ladies Kung Fu - Ash Fronteir Psychiatrist - The Avalanches Generator - Holloways Eple - Royksopp So not many but my all time number one is: Stray Dog and the Chocolate Shake - Grandaddy
To keep my list going because I'm not as organised as Ben... Electioneering - Radiohead Kung Fu Fighting - Annan Anwar (this is a great version from Thailand, where most of its in Thai except the chorus) Thats it for now...
[quote:6120227cc0="Electric_Man"] Fronteir Psychiatrist - The Avalanches [/quote:6120227cc0] I remember this! Must... Download... Now...
[quote:f511fc3a3c="Delphine"][quote:f511fc3a3c="Electric_Man"] Fronteir Psychiatrist - The Avalanches [/quote:f511fc3a3c] I remember this! Must... Download... Now...[/quote:f511fc3a3c] She did. Then made me listen to it. It was not a happy time.
I Want to Break Free- Queen Another One Bites the Dust- Queen 59th Street Bridge Song- Simon and Garfunkel (that's the "Slow down, you move too fast..." one) Professional Pirate- Muppets Barbie Girl- Rammstein version (I think its Rammstein, my brother told me so, it sounds angry and I think it's in German, but I can't actually tell) Big 10-Inch (Record)- Aerosmith Used to Love Her- Guns & Roses almost anything by the Beach Boys
[quote:dfc86afab8="roisindubh211"]59th Street Bridge Song- Simon and Garfunkel (that's the "Slow down, you move too fast..." one)[/quote:dfc86afab8] That's the 'Feeling Groovy' one, isn't it? That's another one for my list!
[quote:fec2960ff4="Orrdos"][quote:fec2960ff4="Delphine"] I remember this! Must... Download... Now...[/quote:fec2960ff4] She did. Then made me listen to it. It was not a happy time.[/quote:fec2960ff4] Pffft. It's a fine arrangement of random sound clips! And it does have at least ONE instrument. Big horn things. You see them in the video. Also! Funktastic record scratchy bits! What's not to like!? Rosin, are you sure it was Rammstein who did the cover of barbie girl? I think i've heard the version you mean, but i really don't think it was Rammstein.... This will bother me for ages now. edited to add stuff.
As I said, I think its Rammstein because that's what my brother said, and he usually (more like always) knows way more about music than I do. He could have been guessing, though, he's very convincing even when pulling information out of the air.
Roisin, my brother is the same way. When we're driving together and listening to the radio he always asks, "Who's this?" then proceeds to tell me who, what instruments, and where that particular recording was made. And I'm the music major! Including to my list. Dread Zeppelin - Black Dog Ray Stevens - Jeremiah Peabody's Poly-Unsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green And Purple Pills - Speed Ball - Shriners Convention - Harry the Hairy Ape - Happy Hour is the Saddest Time of the Day - The Haircut Song Kenny Loggins - Return to Pooh Corner
[quote:8b892886b7="redneck"]Kenny Loggins - Return to Pooh Corner[/quote:8b892886b7] Kenny Loggins!? Isn't this the guy that did 'Nothings gonna change my love for you" and "Footloose"? Oh I'll have to add Footloose to the list...

OH MY GOD I can't believe i just admitted to knowing that!!! *slowley walks to moms stairs, makes ascent to top, throws rope over banistair, and jumps......forgets to attach rope to self and lands on floor in heap waiting for the sarky comments to come*

I'm not a big fan of his, but this song is one of my favorites. It's kind of a lullabye.
I hope you die - The Bloodhound Gang Wonderful World - The Ramones Just One Smile - The Late, great, underrated Gene Pitney
My bad. How [i:fed0a72bed]could[/i:fed0a72bed] I not know the difference between Glen Maderos and Kenny Loggins? *Feels superior to MissW* Speaking of Gene Pitney I have a soft spot for Frankie Valenz - "Can't take my eyes of you" and "Walk like a man" and "Grease" are all great...
