So, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was sad to hear recently that Tony Hart had died. In fact, I know it, because of this story. From the report, it sounds like the fans arranged to display the mob of Morphs with the Tate Modern, but I like to imagine them doing it guerilla-style, and all the Morphs just appearing overnight.
For us old 'uns twas a sad day indeed having been brought up on the culture of popular art done by an artist since the 50's & 60's, not those amateurs on the recent SMART series of programmes. I never realised he was as old as that. For me, when I was younger, he was like the David Attenborough of the art world - someone who made it interesting.
I hate to say it, but I thought he had died years ago. When I was about 12. Just goes to show how wrong you can be. I loved him though. He always made art interesting.
